Article: August Business Update
August Business Update
It's been a while since our last business update, and we wanted to take a moment to share our current progress and plans for the future.
First and foremost, we're thrilled to announce that Sammie Snugs (the Outdoor Waterproof & Weighted Blanket) will be arriving next week! We can’t wait to share it with you. Additionally, we’re still awaiting the updated “Pink” rolling tote. We shared pictures of the first prototype on Facebook, listened to your feedback, and are now eagerly anticipating the second prototype.
As a new business, we are actively working on optimizing our operations, with a particular focus on marketing strategies. Our primary goal is to reduce customer acquisition costs while moving towards profitability. Currently, it costs us an average of $60 to acquire one customer. When we factor in production and shipping expenses, we find ourselves operating at a loss. While we understand that turning a profit in our first year is a challenge, we are committed to finding ways to minimize our losses.
Our sales numbers are not the primary issue; we are successfully generating a few daily sales through our advertising efforts. However, the challenge lies in the cost of acquiring those sales. The cost is just too high for our small business. Therefore, we have to make some changes.
To address these challenges, we are shifting our focus towards community engagement and exploring methods to generate free traffic and advertising. Here are a few initiatives we are currently working on:
- Get more reviews: We're sitting at 32 and we need more to continue to build trust.
- More Blog Entries: We aim to provide valuable content that resonates with our audience.
- Launching a Podcast Soon: Stay tuned for more details on this exciting project!
- Participating in In-Person Events: We plan to attend vendor events to connect with potential customers, gather reviews, and expand our follower base.
In the meantime, we have significantly reduced our advertising spend by two-thirds and are prioritizing generating free traffic. We anticipate that this may temporarily affect our daily sales, but we believe it is a necessary step towards long-term sustainability and growth.
With summer ending our focus shift to getting our business and brand on track. We're still very excited about what the future holds and we appreciate all of you and thank you for being a part of our journey. Your support and engagement are invaluable as we work to build a thriving community together.
