6 Simple Steps for Busy Moms: How to Stay Organized in the Chaos

Being a mom is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling roles a woman can have, but it can also be overwhelming and chaotic at times. Between juggling work, household chores, and taking care of the kids, and our husbands, it's easy to feel like there's never enough time in the day to get everything done. However, with a little bit of organization and planning, moms can make their lives a lot easier and less stressful.  I know, easier said than done.

Here are some simple steps that you might be able to implement to be better organized in your sometimes hectic life.

1. Create a daily schedule

One of the best ways to stay organized as a mom is to create a daily schedule. Open the notepad on your phone, text yourself or write it in a journal. This can help you stay on track and make sure you're not forgetting any important tasks or appointments. Take five minutes each evening to plan out your schedule for the next day, including things like work commitments, school drop-offs and pick-ups and any other activities you need to fit in. Having a clear plan for the day can help you feel more in control and less overwhelmed. From a phycological standpoint, crossing off things on your list can feel very rewarding.  Lastly, consider using a planner or calendar for long term task, events, activities.

2. Declutter and organize your home

With a busy schedule this is the hardest one to keep up with, but it will help eliminate so much stress from your life. A cluttered and disorganized home can add to feelings of stress and overwhelm, so taking the time to declutter and organize your space can make a big difference. Start by going through each room in your home and getting rid of any items that you no longer need or use. Do it in chunks if you need to. One room a day or a couple rooms in a week.  Organize your belongings in a way that makes sense to you, whether that's by category, color, or function. Having a clean and organized home can help you feel more calm and focused, making it easier to tackle your daily tasks.

3. Meal plan and prep

Meal planning and prepping can save you a lot of time and stress during the week. Take some time each weekend to plan out your meals for the upcoming week, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Write out a grocery list based on your meal plan and do your shopping in one trip to save time and money. You can also prep some meals in advance, such as chopping vegetables or marinating meat, to make cooking during the week easier and faster. One of our favorites is crockpot meals. Having a plan for meals can help you avoid the last-minute scramble to figure out what to eat and ensure that your family is eating healthy and balanced meals.

 4. Delegate tasks

As a mom, it's easy to feel like you have to do everything yourself, but it's important to remember that it's okay to ask for help. Delegate tasks to your partner, kids, or other family members to lighten your load and free up some time for yourself. Whether it's asking your partner to help with household chores, having your kids pitch in with cleaning up, or hiring a babysitter for a few hours so you can have some time to yourself, don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Remember, you don't have to do it all on your own.

5. Find the perfect bag.

You knew we had to throw this one in but it does eliminate stress. Use your Rolling Tote bag by Seven Sisters. A rolling tote bag could be a game-changer for a mom with kids, as it provides a convenient and organized way to transport all the necessary items for outings or errands. With multiple compartments and pockets, the rolling tote bag allows for easy organization of snacks, toys, diapers, and other essentials, making it easier to find what is needed quickly. The wheels on the bag make it effortless to maneuver, especially when juggling multiple children or navigating crowded spaces. By having everything in one place and easily accessible, a mom can eliminate the stress of forgetting something or scrambling to find what she needs, allowing her to focus on the things she wants to.

6. Take care of yourself

Finally, it's important for moms to remember to take care of themselves. It's easy to put everyone else's needs before your own, but self-care is essential for your overall well-being. Make sure to prioritize things like exercise (for me walking a couple miles around the neighborhood), sleep, and relaxation, as well as activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. Taking care of yourself can help you feel more energized and focused, making it easier to handle the demands of motherhood.

In conclusion, being a mom is a busy and demanding job, but with some organization and planning, it's possible to make life a little bit easier. By creating a daily schedule, using a planner, decluttering your home, meal planning and prepping, delegating tasks, and taking care of yourself, you can be better organized and more in control of your hectic life. Remember, it's okay to ask for help and take time for yourself – you deserve it!
